About Road Hop
Road Hop is a crossing game in the tradition of the arcade classics. You are a yellow dot at the bottom of a very wide road. Every tap moves you forward one lane. In each lane, blocks of traffic slide past, some to the left and some to the right, each lane at its own speed.
How it works
You stay in the centre of the screen and only ever move forward. Every fifth lane is a safe strip, drawn in a lighter blue, where nothing drives and you can stop to think.
You cannot stop for long, though. The view scrolls upward by itself, slowly at first and then more quickly, and a red line marks the bottom edge. If it catches you, the run ends. Lanes further up the road also carry faster traffic.
Each lane crossed is one point.
Playing it well
Read each lane before you enter it. Traffic in a lane is evenly spaced, so once one block has passed the centre you know how long you have before the next.
Hop just behind a block, not in front of one. The moment a block clears the middle is the safest time to step into its lane.
Cross in bursts. Use the safe strips as planning points: look at the four lanes ahead, wait for a moment when the first two are clear, and take them quickly.
Do not rush out of a safe strip because of the red line. Early on it moves slowly and you have more time than it feels like.
Watch the direction of each lane. Blocks come from the left in some and the right in others.
Twenty lanes is a good run. It is one of the more thoughtful dodging HTML5 games, since patience scores better than speed.
