About Sky Shield
Sky Shield is a defence game with a long arcade pedigree. Rockets come down from the top of the screen on slanting paths, each leaving a faint trail. You have no gun to aim. You place explosions in the sky, and the rockets must fly into them.
How it works
A tap creates a blast where you touched. It swells to full size in just under half a second, then shrinks away. Anything inside it is destroyed for a point.
You can set off a new blast about four times a second, and several can be on screen together. Three rockets getting through ends the game. The teal blocks along the ground show how many shields you have left.
Rockets start slowly and arrive faster and more often as the game goes on.
Playing it well
Aim ahead of the rocket, not at it. The blast takes time to grow, and the rocket keeps moving. Tap a short way further down its trail, and let it fly in.
Catch two with one blast. Rocket paths often cross. A blast placed where two trails meet, timed for when both arrive, is the most satisfying shot in the game.
Shoot them high. A rocket destroyed near the top gives you a second chance if you miss. A rocket near the ground gives you one.
Work out which rocket is lowest and take that first. The newest one is rarely the most urgent.
Do not scatter taps. Each blast only lasts a moment, and a blast in empty sky during the brief delay between shots is a rocket you did not stop.
Forty points is a good defence. Few HTML5 games make a tap feel as weighty as this one.
