About Sky Hop
Sky Hop is a vertical climbing game. A yellow ball bounces on a small teal ledge. Above it are more ledges, scattered up into the sky. The ball jumps to the same height every time, with no help from you. Your job is to make sure there is something under it when it comes down.
How it works
The ball drifts towards your finger or mouse pointer. On a keyboard, the arrow keys shift it left and right. It passes up through ledges from below and lands only on the way down, so you can jump through a ledge and then settle on top of it.
The view follows you upward and never comes back down. Any ledge that scrolls off the bottom is gone, and if the ball falls past the bottom edge the climb is over. Your score is the height reached.
Higher up, the ledges get shorter and the gaps between them stretch closer to the limit of the ball's jump.
Playing it well
Choose your next ledge while you are still rising. At the top of each bounce there is a moment when the ball almost hangs. Use it to line up.
Favour ledges directly above you. A long sideways trip takes most of a bounce, and the ball may not arrive in time.
You do not have to take the highest ledge. A nearer one that you can reach comfortably is worth more than a far one you might miss.
Keep the pointer steady once you are over a ledge. The ball glides towards it and will overshoot if you keep moving.
A score of a hundred means you have climbed about twenty-five ledges. For bouncing HTML5 games, the appeal is always the same: one more ledge.
