About Tap Sprint
Tap Sprint is the simplest game on this site and one of the most competitive. You get ten seconds. Every tap adds one to the counter. When the bar at the bottom runs out, the number you are left with is your score.
How it works
Tap anywhere on the screen, click the mouse, or press the space bar. Holding a key down does not count as repeated taps, so each one has to be a separate press.
While you play, the screen shows your running rate in taps per second. It gives you something to glance at afterwards, and a way to compare a ten-second effort with a friend's.
What is a good score?
Most people tapping with one finger manage between five and seven taps a second, which gives a score of fifty to seventy. Getting past eighty with one finger takes technique. Scores above a hundred nearly always mean two fingers, or two hands, taking turns.
Results vary with the device. A mouse button, a trackpad, a phone screen and a space bar all have a different feel and a different top speed.
Going faster
Keep your finger close to the surface. The distance it travels on each tap is the main thing limiting your speed. Small movements are quick movements.
Tense your forearm slightly and let your hand vibrate, instead of lifting and pressing with the finger alone. It looks odd and it works.
Alternate two fingers. On a touchscreen, drumming with the index and middle fingers almost doubles your rate. Two thumbs work as well.
Do not slow down to watch the clock. The last three seconds are where tired hands lose taps.
It is the quickest of our HTML5 games, and ideal for settling who is fastest.
