About Tile Runner
Tile Runner is a tile-tapping game of the sort made famous on phones, played here without the piano. The screen is divided into four columns. Rows slide down from the top, and each row has exactly one dark tile. Tap it, and it turns grey. Miss one, or touch the pale background, and the game ends.
How it works
On a touchscreen, tap the tiles directly. On a keyboard, the keys D, F, J and K stand for the four columns from left to right, and a key press plays the lowest row that has not been tapped yet.
The first few rows are blank to give you a moment to get ready. After that the scrolling never pauses, and it gets faster the longer you last. Each tile is one point.
There are no lives. One mistake finishes the run.
Playing it well
Play from the bottom up. The lowest dark tile is the most urgent, so always deal with that one next, then the one above it.
Tap high on the screen when you can. Tiles you clear early cannot reach the bottom. Good players work in the upper half and are never rushed.
Use two hands. On a phone, two thumbs split the columns two each. On a keyboard, two fingers of each hand rest on D, F, J and K.
Be exact. A tap that lands between tiles, or a fraction beside one, counts as touching the background. Aim for the middle of each tile.
When two tiles in a row are in the same column, do not tap twice too quickly. Make sure each tap lands on its own tile.
Find a rhythm. The rows are evenly spaced, so the taps fall into a beat.
Fifty tiles is a good run. For fast-fingered HTML5 games, it remains hard to beat.
