About Wheel Catch
Wheel Catch is a matching game played against gravity. At the bottom of the screen is a wheel divided into four quarters: a red triangle, a yellow circle, a teal square and a cream diamond. A shape falls from above. Before it lands, the quarter at the top of the wheel has to be the same.
How it works
Every tap turns the wheel by one quarter, always in the same direction. There is no way to turn it back. If the quarter you need has just gone past the top, it takes three more taps to bring it round again.
Each shape is marked by both its colour and its symbol, so you can match by either. One shape falls at a time, and the next appears as soon as the last is caught.
Every catch makes the next shape fall faster, up to a limit. One mismatch and the game ends.
Playing it well
Learn the order of the wheel. The four quarters always follow each other in the same sequence. Once you know it, you stop looking for the matching quarter and simply know how many taps it is away: none, one, two or three.
Count taps, then stop. Decide the number the instant the shape appears, make that many taps, and take your finger away. Extra taps "to be sure" are the usual cause of a mismatch.
Look at the falling shape, not the wheel. The wheel only changes when you tap it, so you can keep track of it in your head.
Tap quickly and early. Getting the wheel set while the shape is still high leaves time to notice a mistake.
Twenty-five catches is a strong score. It is a simple idea, and one of the more absorbing sorting-style HTML5 games.
